>Know your Skin type     >Care for your Skin   >Treatments for problematic Skin / Hair

Knowing your skin type is the first step towards taking care of it. Every skin type has a few characteristics. This can be determined by the look and feel of your skin. Apart from some problematic skins, there are four basic skin types Normal, Oily, Dry and Combination skin.

NORMAL SKIN

The skin is neither dry nor oily. It has a soft & smooth texture and usually there is a natural glow. ItÕs the most desirable type of skin, but it too needs regular care or else there may be danger of premature ageing and wrinkles.

OILY SKIN

The sebaceous (oil producing) glands of the skin are over active in this type of skin, resulting in excess oil secretion. The look of such skin is shiny and greasy. The facial pores are enlarged and prone to blackheads, pimples and acne. This does not mean that oily skin does not require moisturising. It just needs special care.

DRY SKIN

Dry skin is usually thin, transparent, fragile and easily prone to chapping & flaking. The feel of the skin is stretchy & parched and the look is dull and lifeless. This is due to absence of natural moisture and sebum in the skin.

COMBINATION SKIN

As the word signifies, this type of skin has dual characteristics. The T-zone (comprising of forehead, nose and chin areas) is either oily or extremely oily and the rest of the face i.e. the cheeks and eyes are either normal or dry. This type of combination skin is most common and is usually problematic. So, separate care is required for both types of skin, especially moisturising.
